The Imperial Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce proudly hosted the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse, marking a new chapter for one of the region’s most historic and beloved venues.
Located in El Centro, the Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse stands as a testament to the Imperial Valley’s rich history while embracing a renewed vision for the future. Originally established in 1901, the building began as a schoolhouse before being transformed in 1991 by Tony Albritton into a premier Imperial County event venue. A major expansion followed in 2011 alongside partner Brad Bening, further solidifying its reputation as a destination for community gatherings and celebrations.
Following Tony Albritton’s passing in 2019, operations continued under Brad and Heather Bening until May 2025, when Dr. Jeffrey and Jaymee Chan took ownership of the property.
Since then, the Chans have led a thoughtful revitalization of the venue, blending its historic charm with modern elegance. Through upgrades, enhanced dining experiences, and an elevated approach to event hosting, the Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse has been reimagined as a standout destination in the Imperial Valley.
The Chamber’s ribbon cutting ceremony brought together community members, business leaders, and supporters to celebrate this milestone. The event recognized not only the reopening of the venue, but also the continued investment in preserving spaces that hold deep meaning within the community.
Today, the Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse serves as a versatile venue for a wide range of events across the Valley, offering a unique setting that combines history, character, and modern functionality.
At the heart of its operations is a dedicated team, including manager Damien Flores and a committed kitchen staff, whose efforts contribute to delivering memorable experiences for every guest.
Guided by a simple yet powerful mission, "to make their clients happy," the team continues to build on the venue’s legacy through exceptional service and attention to detail.
The Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse’s greatest achievement lies in the relationships it has built within the community, earning recommendations and referrals from satisfied clients who have celebrated their most meaningful moments within its walls.
Looking ahead, the vision remains clear: to continue serving as a premier gathering place for the people of the Imperial Valley, where life’s most special moments can be celebrated for generations to come.
The Imperial Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce remains committed to supporting businesses that preserve the region’s history while contributing to its future growth. Through events like ribbon cuttings, IVRCC continues to provide a platform for local businesses to share their stories, connect with the community, and celebrate their milestones.
Community members are encouraged to visit the Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse, explore its offerings, and experience a space where history and celebration come together in the heart of the Imperial Valley.
